Privacy Notice

This notice describes the information collected through Hancock County Released Inmates, how it is used, and the limited circumstances in which it may be shared. It also explains cookies, outside services, security limits, and user choices. By using the site, you accept these practices.

Information You Choose to Send

Search Terms

A name, location, or other term entered into a search box is sent to the third-party provider that operates the search service. Hancock County Released Inmates does not keep or log those query terms on its own systems. The provider may process the query under its separate privacy terms, so review those terms before submitting information.

Messages

An email or contact-form message may include an address, name, and any details the sender chooses to provide. We retain that material as needed to read, route, and answer the request. Contact content is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is legally required. Do not send Social Security numbers, full birth dates, account credentials, or other sensitive identifiers in a general message.

Visit Data Collected Automatically

Ordinary technical logs and measurement tools can record details when a page loads. Those details help maintain the service, diagnose faults, and understand broad traffic patterns. They may include:

  • Internet Protocol address;
  • browser name and version;
  • device type and operating system;
  • pages viewed and time spent on them;
  • the referring page or site, when supplied; and
  • date and time stamps.

Cookies

Cookies and similar browser storage may be used to measure visits, remember technical preferences, and understand how pages are used. Browser controls can block or delete cookies. Some site features, partner tools, or advertising functions may then operate differently or lose saved settings.

Reasons We Use Information

Collected information is used only for operating, improving, measuring, and protecting the service and for connecting a requested search to the provider that handles it.

  • Keep pages available and responsive;
  • send search requests to the selected partner service;
  • learn which Hancock County record topics visitors use;
  • detect and correct technical or security problems; and
  • display advertising that may reflect general interests.

Privacy Beyond Our Pages

Links may lead to the Hancock County Sheriff, Tennessee Department of Correction, Tennessee Courts, federal or immigration locators, release-record resources, and outside search tools. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy notice and data practices apply. We do not set the rules for those separate systems.

Advertising providers may use their own cookies or identifiers to measure activity across different sites and select interest-based ads. That processing occurs through the provider's systems, not through a Hancock County government database. Review the provider's controls to manage those choices.

Limited Information Sharing

We do not sell personal information. Operational data may be available only to services that perform a defined function or when a valid legal demand requires disclosure.

  • Search partners that receive and answer a submitted query;
  • analytics providers that measure use and performance;
  • advertising networks that deliver or measure ads; and
  • law-enforcement or government authorities acting under a valid subpoena, court order, warrant, or other lawful process.

A Tennessee Public Records Act request to a sheriff, court, or TDOC is separate from data sent through this private site. Government records are governed principally by Tennessee Code, Title 10, Chapter 7, Part 5, along with other applicable state laws and court orders.

Security Has Practical Limits

Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used to reduce unauthorized access, misuse, and loss. No website, network, email route, or internet transmission can be guaranteed breach-proof. Visitors should limit what they submit and use the official agency's secure process when a record request requires private identifying details.

Visitors Younger Than Eighteen

Hancock County Released Inmates is intended for adults. We do not knowingly seek or collect personal information from anyone under eighteen. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted information may use the Contacts page to request review and deletion.

Your Privacy Choices

Subject to applicable law and the limits of what is actually held, a person may ask us to:

  • provide a copy of personal data associated with that person;
  • correct inaccurate personal information;
  • erase information that need not be retained; or
  • stop certain optional processing.

These requests apply only to information controlled here. A correction to a Hancock jail record, court docket, FOIL result, or federal locator must go to the government office that owns that record.

Changes to This Notice

This Privacy Notice may be revised as site practices, providers, or legal duties change. An updated version takes effect when posted here and will carry a revised effective date where appropriate. Continued use after posting means the revised notice applies to later activity.
